What is Extensible Authentication Protocol light and what is LEAP adapter?

My sister is getting ready to go to college and already have a laptop that is about one year old who is having with her. Your school's website says it's the wireless network requires light Extensible Authentication Protocol (LEAP) and recommends that laptops have an adapter for LEAP. The team is taking is a Toshiba Satellite L35 model and has incorporated wireless internet, but I have no idea Leap is so I'm sure if the built-in wireless will be compatible with this laptop. Any idea will be much appreciated!

This was a very interesting question for research:) LEAP is an authentication protocol for WiFi security standard that is developed by Cisco. In wireless specifications can also be listed as CCX (Cisco Compatible Extension) compatibility. It is often used in large organizations and universities to provide a cost-effective wireless security solution. As far as his daughter's laptop, which was very difficult to find specifications for your wireless card. All I could find was that the wireless chipset is manufactured by Atheros. I know many other Toshiba laptops use chipsets AR500xx, which supports LEAP / CCX. I would recommend monitoring the model of wireless card directly into your laptop. You can do this using the following steps: In determining the wireless card / chipset you can do several things. The most efficient way is: * Right click on My Computer and select Properties * Go to Hardware, Device Manager. Click the plus sign next to Network Adapters. This allows you to easily determine which card wireless / chipset is installed. However, many wireless cards are compatible are often labeled something generic, ie "802.11b / g WLAN. If the adapter is in fact an Atheros chipset compatible, it should say something like AR500x. If you can not determine this, I do not know what to do. I'm sure he could give the university IT department or computer support a call and could help to solve it. Hope this helps!
