When the satellite is on one side of the two stations, the elevation angles at A and B are measured at 87 degrees and 84 degrees, respectively. (a) What is the satellite station A? Dear Mr. mhicks04: If I am interpreting your question then the answers are: 1). Let theta = 87 degrees for satellite shift from one position, then we have: tan 87 degrees = y / x tan 87 degrees = y / = 55 miles and 55 miles / tan 87 degrees = 2.88 miles downrange. (Or about 3.0 miles) 2). Let theta = 84 degrees for moving the satellite from the position B, then we have: tan 84 degrees = y / x = tan 84 degrees and / = 55 miles and 55 miles / tg = 84 degrees and 5.78 miles downrange (or approximately 6 miles).
